Finisar Adds Silicon Photonics to its Technology Toolkit

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 16, 2014 AT 8:21AM (Source: GAZETTABYTE) -- Finisar revealed its in-house silicon photonics design capability at ECOC. The company also showed its latest ROADM technologies: a dual wavelength-selective switch and a high-resolution optical channel monitor. Also shown was an optical amplifier that spans 400km fibre links.

OFC ’14: Finisar CFP4 & 40G VCSEL Demo

Finisar demonstrates CFP4 MSA form factor for 100G systems within carrier and data-center environments, 40G serial vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) link technology that increases per-lane data rates, a 16-channel x 25G CDFP active optical cable (AOC), and hybrid Raman erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) for extending reach without compromising performance.

Finisar also showcased its new indium phosphide (InP)-based optical components, expanding its 100G coherent portfolio.
