II-VI introduces the WaveShaper® 1000B/X and 4000B/X covering the full C+L band
The new WaveShaper 1000B Programmable Optical Filter and the WaveShaper 4000B Programmable Optical Processor cover the entire C+L band from 185.86 THz to 196.6725 THz (1524.33 nm to 1613.0 nm) – a total range of more than 10.8 THz (more than 88 nm).
The new instruments support very fast filter update rates of more than 10 Hz. Depending on filter complexity, update rates of more than 30 Hz are also possible.
The WaveShaper 4000B includes a power splitting capability which allows programming arbitrary wavelength dependent splitting functions. The 4000B also includes a high resolution mode of operation which uses an internal double pass architecture. As a result, very steep filter slopes of more than 700 dB/nm can be achieved.
The instrument includes a detachable sub-panel on the front so that the optical connectors can be accessed for cleaning.

The WaveShaper family supports simulating cascaded ROADMs and filters in a meshed network
Predicting transmission quality in a meshed network is a challenge as typically a significant and changing number of ROADMs and other filtering components are included. Effects like channel narrowing, as a result of a jitter of center frequencies, as well as non-perfect passband shapes contribute to a compromised link transmission quality.
The new ROADM & Filter Cascade Simulator – which is included in the WaveShaper App release 2.0 – provides a simulation of the effective filter shape of cascaded filtering elements. This enables network planners and operators to better verify link transmission qualities and therefore supports optimizing link capacity and link uptimes.

WaveShaper App 2.0 available for download
The new WaveShaper App version 2.0 is available and may be downloaded from the II-VI website www.ii-vi.com/instruments.
This release supports the WaveShaper B-Series as well as the previous generation WaveShaper A-Series. It comes with II-VI branding and includes the new Network Simulator capability – which is supported by the WaveShaper ASeries instruments (except WaveShaper 100A) and the new WaveShaper BSeries instruments.
The WaveManager – our package to control the older generation WaveShaper S-Series instruments – is also still available for download from the II-VI website.
WaveAnalyzer GUI 1.8.6 available for download
The new WaveAnalyzer GUI release includes a number of bug fixes and now also comes up with the II-VI branding.
