5 Awesome Things You Can Expect From Datacenter Transformation 2016

With just over 2 weeks to go until the OCP event of the year, Datacenter Transformation 2016 taking place on October 20th in Frankfurt, we thought we'd give you a sneak preview of what to expect...

1. Tundra Extreme Scale Sled

Penguin Computing, a Platinum Tier Member of the OCP Foundation, will have their Tundra ES on display at their stand in the Exhibitor Zone. The Tundra delivers the advantages of Open Computing in a single, cost-optimized, high-performance vanity-free rack and sled solution. Meanwhile in the Conference Theatre David Ingersoll will present 'OCP on Steroids' - how to push efficiency and density in the Data Center.

2. The Industry’s First 100G Open Network Modular Switch

During his presentation, George Tchaparian, CEO of Edgecore Networks, will discuss Accelerating Networking in the Datacenter. Edgecore Networks specialise in open networking, with a full line up of open Wi-Fi access points and 1GbE, 10GbE, 25GbE, 40GbE, 50GbE and 100GbE OCP-accepted switches.

Sneak Preview If all works to plan, Edgecore will have their OMP800 on display at their stand in the Exhibitor Zone - the industry’s first 100G Open Network Modular switch, with 256 X 100G ports, along with many other switches including the Facebook 40G Wedge-16X and 100G Wedge-100G.

3. Open Optical Monitoring Demonstration

Craig Thompson, the VP of New Markets at Finisar will demonstrate ‘Open Optical Monitoring’ and ‘Connectivity Diagnostics’ at Finisar’s stand in the Exhibitor Zone. He will speak about how optics innovation can be accelerated in standards-based open network deployments with multi-vendor support, about 'Open Optical Monitoring’ and why it matters. Finisar is a global technology leader in optical communications, contributing regularly to the OCP Foundation with benchmark reports.

4. Open Network Operating Systems: Deployment Use Cases

Abhijit Naik, Senior Solutions Architect at IP Infusion will discuss how to 'Unleash the Power of SDN' - Open NOS for Data Center and Service Provider Networks, the challenges faced and deployment use cases. He will have an IP Infustion software demo running on a whitebox switch at IPI's stand in the Exhibitor Zone. IP Infusion has designed and delivered OcNOS (Open Compute Network Operating System). OcNOS helps to accelerate adoption of the Open Compute Project in data networks, filling the current void for service providers and enterprises for a full-featured network operating system.

5. Lots of Interesting People!

There will be lots of opportunities throughout the day to meet your fellow attendees, the most innovative IT professionals hailing from Germany, the UK, Ireland and beyond. During lunch, coffee breaks and the post-conference Networking Reception with Irish Whiskey Tasting, you will also have a chance to talk to all of our speakers, including our keynote speaker John Laban from the Open Compute Project Foundation.
