It was a sporting weekend here at EPS with teams in Dublin, Ireland and Timișoara, Romania undertaking two completely different challenges to support worthy causes - charity and the environment! EPS Global played to its strengths - engineering, speed, attention to detail, and above all, good fun for great causes!
In Ireland, we had a team of cyclists take part in the 4 Provinces Cycle, a 3-day, 400km around Ireland to raise money for the Belvedere Youth Club (BYC). Since 1918, BYC has worked to empower, educate, and support young people in Dublin’s north inner city. BYC is the country’s oldest youth club and offers a range of services to young people to help them build their self-confidence, become more resourceful, and equip them for a future with more options and more choices.

On Saturday in Timișoara, Romania we were involved in the 'Make It! Race It! Recycle It!' boat race on the river Bega alongside some local organizations, Valeo, Hella, ZF and Kimball. The race, organized by EcoStuff, is an unconventional sports competition dedicated to increasing awareness of the importance of environmental protection and the collection, reuse or recycling or materials. Participants compete on the Bega in boats made of recovered and recyclable materials. After the race, each crew dismantles their boat and recovers or recycles the waste from which it was built.

We won the popular vote for our EPS Robot, bringing home gold on the day for the best 'artistic expression', and secured a bronze for coming third in the race. In the footage above, from PRO TV, you can see Florentin Munteanu, Operations Manager of our programming center in Timișoara interviewed by the national TV station.
"Action for People is waiting on the shore for those who can donate old or new school supplies, in order to offer a better start in the new school year to a number of over 200 children and young people from social centers in Timiș County. Representatives of Retim and ADID Timiș will also be present at the event, with workshops for children and information that will teach us how to do selective waste collection correctly and why it is important to raise the degree of waste recycling in Timișoara", says Radu Rusu, Ecostuff Romania, the organizer of the competition.
