New: WaveShaper® products operate in the S- and Extended L-Bands!

II-VI introduces new members to the WaveShaper product family which significantly extend the wavelength bands:

  • The WaveShaper 1000A/S and 4000A/S cover the wavelength range from 1468 nm to 1528 nm.
  • The WaveShaper 1000A/XL and 4000A/XL cover the range from 1567 nm to 1640 nm.

All units allow programmable arbitrary control of attenuation and phase across the entire range. Wavelength dependent group delay values of up to ± 15 ps can be set as well as attenuation levels of more than 30 dB.

The WaveShaper 1000A/S and 1000A/XL provide a 1 x 1 port configuration while the WaveShaper 4000A/S and 4000A/XL provide a 1 x 4 port configuration.

These new instruments have been designed for Advanced Research and Development Labs working on new concepts for high capacity transmission systems.

With these introductions, the II-VI WaveShaper family now covers the entire range from 1468 nm to 1640 nm plus the 1 μm window. If you have applications which require WaveShaper instruments operating outside these windows, please talk to us!

II-VI instruments support 800 Gbps field trial

The II-VI WaveAnalyzer and WaveShaper instruments have played a key role in Windstream’s recent live network trial of 800 Gbps transmission on a single channel over 730 kilometers (km) across Windstream’s long-haul network between San Diego and Phoenix (read press release). The resolution of up to 180 MHz of the WaveAnalyzer family of Optical Spectrum Analyzers accurately determines the spectral shape and modulation format of 800 Gbps signals.

The WaveShaper has been used to simulate realistic optical network configurations including the cumulative impairment effects on 800 Gbps signals that result from transmitting through a series of reconfigurable optical add-drop multiplexer (ROADM) systems.

WaveAnalyzer GUI 1.8.4 available for download

Version 1.8.4 of the WaveAnalyzer Graphical User Interface has been released. It includes a number of improvements and bugfixes.
