A Bypass TAP, also known as a 'bypass switch', offers the capability to control the availability and reliability of an inline tool such as an IPS, WAF, or firewall at any time without causing network downtime or affecting business availability for maintenance or upgrades. This is a crucial element in IT security strategies.
The 40G modular EdgeSafe Bypass TAPs from Garland are specifically designed to serve as the ultimate failsafe device. They eliminate single points of failure, reduce network downtime, and do so without compromising the network.
The "Inline lifecycle management" feature of a Bypass TAP enables sandboxing of new tool deployments, management of updates, installation of patches, performance of maintenance or troubleshooting, and out-of-band validation, all without impacting the network.
