Product Detail
The Cassini packet transponder is designed to provide network operators with the ability to effortlessly expand and transition existing metro and long-haul Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) networks. This allows for the addition of new 100G capacities and the extension of inter-datacenter and Layer3 services.
Featuring a 1.5RU form factor, the Cassini boasts a system throughput of 3.2Tbps, powered by the Broadcom StrataXGS⢠Tomahawk⢠Plus switch silicon. The design of the Cassini includes sixteen fixed 100 Gigabit Ethernet QSFP28 ports, along with eight linecard slots. These slots can accommodate a versatile combination of additional 200GbE ports or DCO optical ports. These are based on coherent DSP and optical transceivers from top optical technology partners.
The open network switch comes equipped with the Open Network Install Environment (ONIE), which facilitates the installation of a compatible network operating system (NOS) software. This includes open source options like Open Network Linux and other commercial NOS offerings.
Furthermore, Cassini supports Ethernet and optical line cards with MACsec security. This feature allows for secure encrypted connections on both client-side links and metro or wide area connections. Video
