Introducing the WaveAnalyzer™ 400A Optical Spectrum Analyzer

WaveAnalyzer 400AThe new WaveAnalyzer 400A is a very compact Optical Spectrum Analyzer for application in Research & Development as well as Manufacturing departments. It covers the entire C+L band from 186.2THz to 196.2THz (1528nm to 1610nm). Measurements with an update rate of two scans/s across the entire range are supported.

OSNR MeasurementsThe instrument uses coherent measurement technology and therefore supports a Resolution Bandwidth (FWHM) of less than 400 MHz (less than 3 pm) which enables accurate measurements of the noise floor of densely spaced optical signals (see measurement on the right). In addition, the 400A is capable of displaying the two polarization components of the input signal separately – supporting polarization analysis on Polarization Multiplexed signals.

This instrument will also be available as a C-band only version.

The WaveAnalyzer 400A supports the Windows based II-VI WaveAnalyzer Graphical User Interface. For automation applications, it can be controlled using the RESTful Application Programming Interface.

The instrument will be on display at ECOC 2022 in Basel, Switzerland at the II-VI booth.

ECOC: WaveMaker™ Live Demonstration

During ECOC, II-VI will provide insight into the development of the new instrument WaveMaker. This Programmable Optical Spectrum Synthesizer targets System and Module test applications in optical communications. Arbitrary spectra can be generated using an internal ASE source and a programmable optical filter. In addition, external optical channels can be multiplexed into the signal so that a comb of channels may consist of a mixture of real modulated channels and noise channels shaped from the ASE. An internal amplifier plus spectral measurement capability allows accurate setting of the power levels of the channels.

WaveShaper® 500A now available with L-band coverage

An L-band version of the WaveShaper 500A has been introduced. This instrument covers the range 186.2THz to 191.05THz (1569.2nm to 1610.0nm). Shipments of this new unit have started!

Single-Polarization WaveShaper Family has been extended

Two new models of the successful family of single-polarization WaveShaper 1000A/SP have started shipping:

  • The WaveShaper 1000A/SP/X covers the C+L band.
  • The WaveShaper 1000A/SP/Z operates around 1030nm with a further reduced minimum resolution bandwidth of about 0.06nm.

Latest WaveShaper App available for download

The new WaveShaper App version 2.1.4 is available and may be downloaded from II-VI's website. This release offers new functions for Power Splitting operation in addition to several bug fixes.

ECOC 2022 (September 19 to 21)

II-VI will be exhibiting in booth 1 at Messe Basel in Switzerland, under their our new brand: Coherent. Live product demonstrations will include the following solutions and concepts from the test instrument group:

  • The new WaveAnalyzer 400A Optical Spectrum Analyzer covering the C+L band along with the WaveShaper 4000B.
  • The WaveMaker Programmable Spectrum Synthesizer in combination with the WaveAnalyzer 1500S and the WaveAnalyzer 200A.
